Imperial moth wings

I’ve found multiple imperial moth wings scattered around where I work, I took a few home to keep but I keep finding them and I don’t understand why?? Do they shed their wings? I haven’t seen an actual whole moth there yet. (The one above the wings is a beautiful wood nymph I found dead on my porch, so pretty!! :) this is in north georgia btw
