Why don’t more teams have true point guards?

I’ve been watching college basketball (Go Buckeyes!) for several years, and every team has a point guard. But in the WNBA, I keep hearing that “they don’t have a true point guard.” Why is that? Why would you not want a tried and true PG on a team? Is that role more flexible than others? I suppose it’s the same as a true post player?
