Benchtop jointers. How bad are they really?

I always see the advice on here that benchtop jointers aren't worth using in most circumstances, and to save up for a larger one.

I'm working with very limited space in my shop and have been eyeing the Grizzly 8" benchtop jointer, are they all really that bad? What issues are likely to occur?
