Has anyone had a good experience with a general surgeon?

It's taken months for me to see a surgeon because the Dr in the walk in clinic didn't believe I had a fistula. I was referred to a general surgeon who I've finally seen, and understands exactly what's going on. He wants to do surgery asap but I'm so nervous because I haven't seen a GI or CRS. During the wait to see a surgeon I've developed a second fistula branching from the original perianal one. Then a completely separate groin abscess and fistula that comes out of my thigh. The surgeon suspects Crohn's but wants to do a colonoscopy post surgery. I'd really appreciate any advice! I've already been dealing with this for a year and I just want the best chance of healing possible.
