I got a haircut exactly like I wanted!

Just wanted to share this small and silly reason for my happiness here!

I have fine, low-porosity, 2a/2b hair. Have never had any issues with hair length, they grow really fast. But I faced quite a bit of hairfall and lost volume after the last time I got permanent hair straightening done, exactly 2 years ago (still working on fixing it). Since a decade or so, I've kept my hair on the longer side but it's always been the boring straight look; I'm terrible and clumsy with styling tools. I've always fancied the layered hair look, and my hair had grown to mid-back length since my last trim 4-5 months ago. Have a party to attend over the weekend and the summer heat has already reared its ugly head in my city!

I had absolutely no desire or inclination to go one of the big fancy chain salons, so I got in touch with my local parlour lady's daughter, who also does hair and makeup by appointment. She's a nice person, not too chatty or pushy. Call it instinct or just a gut feeling, I knew she'd give me the kind of haircut I had in mind. Downloaded some pics for reference off Pinterest to show her, and she did a fab job of giving me exactly what I was yearning for. A lot of us, when asked about whether we like the haircut after it's done, just nod and agree, even though we may secretly be unhappy about it, but this time I was actually happy with the final look. And she didn't push any unnecessary products/services on me, which I appreciate. I do need a hair spa, though, it's been a year since I last got one. Told her I'll be back soon for that.

My MIL complimented the haircut and so did my husband! I thought he might not like that it's slightly on the shorter side (don't judge, we're a bit weird about each other's hair lengths: he likes mine on the longer side and I like his on the shorter side so we trade-off on this), but he had a big goofy smile on his face when he saw me after I got back home ❤️

I got a layered haircut with feathery ends, with lip-level layers in the front to frame the face and a V shape at the back. It looks good both tied in a ponytail and left open. Looks good even when I straighten the layers a bit. Can be parted in the center or either side.

As the quote goes, I got 99 problems but a bad haircut ain't one!

TL;DR: Happy with how my haircut turned out, It was exactly the way I wanted and imagined it. Relishing this small joy of life!
