You'd have to check with a lawyer, but I wonder if you could do like a Post Nup agreement to where if he doesn't make these changes and you leave he gets nothing from you and him sign it basically saying either he's changing or he gets nothing from the marriage. Might be worth a phone call

OP, you are absolutely right that a lot of things are tolerable until you become parents. I had the exact same issue. I was doing it all, and it was fine because it was manageable until it wasn't. Adding a dependent changes the game completely and it simply isn't possible to focus on being a mother, having a career and being the default everything. Some things will fall through the cracks and that isn't fair to yourself or the child.

He is actually a wonderful father. And my son loves him very much. He is attentive to his needs and not mean or abusive in any way to him. I would not fear leaving our son with him alone. I’m actually extremely jealous of their bond because my husband has had several periods of unemployment where he got to be at home with my son all the time and they’ve been able to bond even more, while I had to work. Last time it took him a month to find a new job, the time before, about 6 weeks. So that seems to be the timeframe. I have not consulted a lawyer yet, the last straw happened this past weekend with him getting fired again and trying to get me to feel sympathy for him, and I simply had no more to spare.
